Specify IP address range for bypass of blocked sites and parental controls

We run a number of Chrome OS devices in our house (and thus can't install the Netgear Genie app on these devices), but would like to bypass blocked keywords/sites/domans and parental controls on these devices (note: plural). Apparently, the router firmware currently only allows specification of only 1 IP address that can bypass the keyword/site/domain blocking. Does anyone else have any ideas of how to allow multiple Chrome OS devices to bypass? Is Netgear planning to implement more granularity for these settings based on IP address ranges anytime soon? Frankly, I expected this from a $250 router when routers from other companies that cost half have this feature.

  • Are you using both Parental Controls and keyword blocking?  If so, don't bother using keyword blocking.  It's a fool's errand.  There's no way to come up with an exhaustive set of keywords to filter (try blocking Youtube; just youtube.com won't cut it!).  Worse, keyword blocking doesn't work on https URLs.

Stick with Parental Controls.  With it, you should be able to exempt as many devices as you want.
