If they're greyed out that's a sign you're not in router mode? So the question is what mode is it in? Did you tinker yourself into an unknown mode?

Forget the Genie for the time being. Can you log into router directly using it's ip address 192.168.1.1?

Then do a command ipconfig /all and find out what is router's ip address.
Or can you ping 192.168.1.1 is ping getting response(no time out).
Also you can ping localhost to check your NIC in your new PC.

I did find out the IP address by doing an ipconfig and it led me to the "routerlogin.net" page that I can already access. I am still greyed out and locked out of setting up my QOS, Set-up Wizard, and most other functions I had before the build. Now what is an NIC? I am not really computer literate but do manage for most things.
