Unable to do a NAS backup with Netgear R7800 router..works with Asus router (0x8007050)
This is a common problem (0x80070570) windows 8 & above which I know. I'm trying to do a complete system image backup to my HDD which is Buffalo PZ-U3 (USB3.0) which is attached to the router's USB 3.0 port.
I connect to the router via an Ethernet cat 7 cable, with a Windows 10 Pro Laptop (Asus K571U).
Every time I start doing a backup, I get an error message (0x80070570) as soon as it reaches the state "Backing up C:/ drive", both the services Volume Shadow copy and Windowsbackup are running.
While this router had problems with NAS backup, I tried on the 2nd router (Asus AC86U), so with the second router the backu was succesful without producing any error, even tried restoring the full image backup with that suystem image and it was succesful.
So it seems like the Netgear R7800 is somehow not letting the WIndows backup access the HDD attached to it.
Any possible solution or feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Strictly speaking, that is not an "NAS". That term is usually reserved for Ethernet connected boxes.
I mention it only to suggest that you need to look at the USB configuration on your router, the PC and the storage device. That's always more tricky than wired Ethernet
My R7800 happily runs backups to ZxXEL, Buffalo and dLINK NAS also to WD and Seagate USB.
So it is possible.
How are you doing these backups? Which programs? I use Acronis, SyncBack and EaseUS. This is for full system and file backups.
You mention Windows backup. Is that the "native" utility? I've never tried that.
- sachbTutorYes, I'm using the native Windows 7 backup and restore on Windows 10 pro 64 bit OS.
This backup runs fine on another router tho but fails on this R7800.
I have attached the Buffalo PZ U3 HDD to the R7800 and have used a CAT 7 ethernet cable to connect the laptop to the router. This error is produced everytime the "backing C drive" appears. I think I might just get rid of the Netgear and buy an Asus router. Asus routers do come withther own set of issues, i.e their WiFi is unstable even on 5ghz.- michaelkenwardGuru - Experienced User

I assume that it has something similar to ReadySHARE.
If so, compare the different configuration with that and the ReadySHARE option.
