Unable to open any custom ports

Hi,

Can anyone assit me with this issue.

I used to have  a TP-Link router and could open any port. When I upgraded to the Nighthawk R8000P    my ISP ip address changed and was not able to open any port. The firmware version is V1.4.1.50_1.3.10

My ISP think its the firewall on my router. There is no firwall settings on this router. The closest to any traffic restriction was the NAT setting which was on secure - which changed it to open still no joy. I also returned the TP-Link router with he exact setting prio to installing the Netgear and now experienced this issue as well. I contacted my ISP who said they blocked only malicious porsts below.

Blocked ports TCP & UDP ports 135, 137, 138, 139 – Used by the NetBIOS service

NetBIOS services allow file sharing over a local network. When exposed to the Internet, it can be exploited to carry out malicious activities such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks or to gain unauthorised access to systems on a local network.

TCP & UDP port 445 – Used by the SMB protocol

Port 445 is vulnerable to a number of attacks which target vulnerabilities in systems running file-sharing services. This port is used by various malware strains to gain entry to a network, namely the WannaCry and Nimda malware variants.

Any ideas how I can resolve this? Many thanks.

Kind regards,

"Unable" is not a useful problem description.  It does not say what
you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
    descriptions or interpretations.

In my experience, people who talk about ports being "open" or
"closed" often don't understand the problem.

    > [...] a TP-Link router [...]

Not a very detailed description of anything.  Model?  How was _it_
    configured?

    > Nighthawk R8000P

       Connected to what?

    > Any ideas how I can resolve this? [...]

"this"?  What?  I have no specific suggestions, but, so far, I have
no real idea what you're trying to do, or what you did, or what happened
    when you did it.

If you're trying to do some kind of port forwarding, then, for the
usual problems with port forwarding, see:

Forget about your idea of a "solution".

Start by explaining what the problem is.

What are you trying to achieve? (For example, "I have this router that I want to use?")

What are you doing? ("I have followed the instructions in the manual.")

Where does it go wrong? ("I get this strange error message that says....")
