Upgraded firmware and now cannot join EA games

Firmware update (latest) 1.0.11.123
I had been using update version 1.0.9.88 and everything was fine. Now after the update to 1.0.11.123, I cannot join an EA server to play (Battlefield4). I can connect to their website, but not an actual game. I get an endless loop of joining and it stays there.
I have reset the router, downgraded the firmware back to 1.0.9.88 and reset again, port forward the game, reinstalled the game and Origin.
No joy. I cannot see where any settings in the router have changed either.
At wits end. Any suggestions? What other info do you need?

what modem/gateway is it connected to?
Sure,
The modem is a Motorola Surfboard SB6141, the older one not when it was changed to Arris.
Ive unplugged it for 5 minutes and rebooted. No difference. Does it on any browser also.
Try downgrading all the way to 1.0.9.42
then do a factory reset and a reinstall. don't use a backup configuration
