Would need to continue using what you have or could install some wireless extenders, NGs EX series could work.
If your looking for newer generation items, then a new router or MESH system you could review and look into. NGs Nighthawk MESH or Orbi Mesh systems would be a start to see what would work for you.
The R9000 is EoL and probably won't see any stock FW updates from NG. There is Voxel FW that is 3rd party and he seems to keep his up to date if you feel the need to keep the R9000 running.
