Wifi Extender Connected no internet

I set up my wifi extender on the second floor and it helps boost the connection, but as soon as  I bring my laptop downstairs, where it is closer to the original router, the whole house loses interet (although the wifi signal is still strong). When I deactivate the wifi on my computer it comes back. The extender and my router use the same network name and password so it should be seamless. Any advice?

    The EX3110 isn't a mesh extender. Because its not mesh, its not seamless. That's why you're running into the issue you're having. 

    options? 

    1. keep it as is with the knowledge that you'll need to disable/enable the wifi.

    2. change the ssid so you can manually change

    3. upgrade to a mesh extender

    4. there are a few programs that can force the change. I haven't used them so I can't attest to how well they work but there's app based and pc based.
