Wifi Help!

So, about a week ago, my area had an outage with Xfinity. Ever since the outage, for some reason the wifi hasn't been acting the same!

I have several devices connected to the network. On my Mac desktop, I'm able to connect to web browsers, but when I try to log into Steam client, or other softwares requiring an internet connection, it shows that it's unable to connect. There's also no internet connection when I try to join the wifi network on my iPhone, and my PS4 also hasn't been able to connect to the internet at all.

I contacted Xfinity for support, who told me everything looked fine and connected on their end, and couldn't see any errors to my wifi service. I have the Netgear Genie which shows that internet is connected, and no errors. Firmware is all up to date. Everything is plugged in. Any idea on how I can troubleshoot this? Do I need to call in a technician?

  • A couple things.

    1. log into the C3700 and get a screen snip of the cable connections page and the event logs. That'll tell us what you're connection is actually like to the ISP

    2. The isp can't determine any WIFI errors with their setups. Usually its them BS'ing to try to make it seem not their fault.

    3. Is it only wifi devices with issues or are the hardwired devices having issues as well?

Thank you for responding. You were right in that the ISP was BSing. We had another outage in the area today, and afterwards everything started working again back to normal. Clearly ISP was having issues.
