Page 87 of the manual walks through enabling/disabling smart connect.

While it does mot make much sense - as 5 GHz devices will prefer the 5 GHz radio if the quality and signal level is sufficient so they reach the much hichter speeds possible on 5 GHz - disable Smart Connect https://kb.netgear.com/000055555/Why-is-my-XR500-Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-Router-broadcasting-only-one-WiFi-network-band
- Thanks for the quick response
When you say it doesn’t make sense , so you think they have given me the wrong fix from virgin ?
If I don’t separate the two I can only achieve speeds of 46mb but if I separate them I get access to 200mb I’m so confused here :( I am not a computer genius unfortunately but trying to be super mom and fixing internet issues for my kids to play fortnite so spent money on a router which doesn’t seem to be doing what I need it too . Would you have any other ideas as to why I cannot get mad speed when it pre selects the internet- schumakuGuru - Experienced User
If splitting 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz makes your clients performing fast because you connect to the 5 GHz preferably - I'm as happy as you are.
