I just spent $400 on a new Netgear Nighthawk router only to find out it has the same problem as the old out of service RAX43 router. If it’s a Windows issue, I don’t think MS is too interested in ...

It has been several days without any issues accessing Readyshare after I disabled the Protection Engine feature on my Netgear RS600 router. I am marking this thread as solution found but I would have preferred to keep the Protection Engine enabled. Hopefully, in the future a fix can be found so as to be able to use both Readyshare and Protection Engine at the same time. Thanks to FURRYe38 and the others who helped to narrow down the cause of the issue.

I once read a post on a forum of a person saying that his problems with readyshare stopped when closed his Microsoft Account and changed his network profile to Local only. So, I am wondering if your test PC is also local only or are you signed to a Microsoft Account and accessing files on OneDrive?

Interesting, yes this one PC is a local account PC.
I don't allow my PCs to access Onedrive via background service or app. I always manually connect if OneDrive is needed.- robmartinez108Oct 19, 2025Tutor
It’s too early to tell for sure, but I may have found a solution to my router issues. I am optimistic because a PC that had lost the connection to readyshare and the admin page reconnected after I added two entries to the hosts file and rebooted the PC. This had never happened before. Simply rebooting the PC never helped to reconnect to readyhare before. The two entries to hosts file are as follows:
192.168.1.1 router name
192.168.1.1 readyshare
I will have to test this possible fix for a few days to see it’s a permanent fix.

Is this on the PC that has a MS account or local account?
