Being able to set the default DNS for everyone in the house is extremely important. I set up my router to use Quad9 as the primary DNS; the setting does nothing. https://on.quad9.net/ says `No, you are NOT using quad9.` Unfortunately, I am not able to install better firmware, which is at `V1.0.6.16`. Status: `No new firmware available` ----- Router type: Netgear Nighthawk BE9200 WiFi 7 Router (RS280) ----- ADVANCED > Setup > Internet Setup > IPv4 Domain Name Server (DNS) Address [Selected] Use These DNS Servers Primary DNS: 9. 9. 9. 9 Secondary DNS: 8. 8. 8. 8 Third DNS: 1. 1. 1. 1 ----- ADVANCED > Setup > Internet Setup > IPv6 IPv6 Domain Name Server (DNS) Address [Selected] Use These DNS Servers Primary DNS: 2620:fe:0:0:0:0:0:9 Secondary DNS: 2001:4860:4860:0:0:0:0:8888Solved78Views0likes3CommentsRS180 /BE5500 5ghz radio issue "teardown" error.
Hello. I bought this RS180 Router new from Amazon (1-21-26) and out of the box even with factory ssid/ setting it started out with the default "Netgear 11" ssid and within 30 to 40 seconds of connecting my phone to the wifi the ssid signal dropped out and came back with "teardown" as an ssid and wrong password message. the RS180 would stay like that until i restarted it. Then it would reboot with the default info again and within 30 to 40 seconds the wifi would drop out and again come back with that same error of "teardown" as the ssid. The only way i could even get into this router to configure it was the web UI, being the nighthawk app on my phone required wifi. Now after Many days of going back between this unit and my old tp-link trying everything i can think of, all the firmware's, all the resets, all the 30/30/30 hard resets, nothing. I finaly traced this issue down to just when the 5ghz radio is enabled. if you disable the 5ghz band in the web ui settings this router seems to operate correctly for the most part. ( sorry but the firmware/ web ui is the worst i have seen in almost 30 years as far as functionality that ACTUALLY DOES what the settings are supposed to do) At this point my conclusion is that the actual hardware, or the 5ghz radio it self is damaged being i have tried everything i can think of software and settings related. Everything , 2.4ghz, all the wired ports , connections and basic web ui/ android app seem to function as intended with the 5ghz radio disabled. This kinds bums a person out especially for a $200 usd unit. (was on sale for $159, but still...) and A LOT of time wasted. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated Thank you.141Views0likes6CommentsNew - Nighthawk WiFi 7 Dual-Band Extender Available

Do any of the NetGear WiFi Routers implement RFC 4941 or RFC 8981 to prevent IPv6 tracking of internal devices? Or are there any Netgear WiFi Routers that allow you to disable IPv6 altogether? IPv6 assigns globally unique IPV6 addresses which allow external tracking of activity done by internal devices. I was looking at RS500/RS700S/RS300 and I don't see this option on any of them. How is Netger protecting the privacy and security of their customers without giving a way to prevent IPv6 tracking?388Views0likes16Comments2.4 GHz Band Stops Working
I am having the same issue as described by nquintero. It is occurring overnight and only affects 2.4 GHz devices. Router Firmware Version V1.0.5.22 ISP Modem/ONT: AT&T BGW320-505 with IP Passthrough (DHCPS-Fixed) to the BE9300 Cable: CAT5E shielded between modem and router Protection Engine: ON IPv6: Disabled Smart Connect: Enabled 2.4 GHz: Auto channel 5 GHz: Auto channel Access Control is ON I do see these. I do not stream televisions, those are hard wired. The 5 GHz and wired devices remain connected. The only recovery is a power cycle.142Views2likes2CommentsBrand new BE17000 - No 2.4ghz
I just purchased this BE17000, I set up all of the wireless networks and then turned on guest. For the 2.4ghz guest wifi I gave it a name separate from the rest of them (netgear-iot) and saved the settings. Everything was working fine for about 2 days and I was able to see this separate network. Today, the network on the 2.4ghz disappeared and I cannot get it to come back. I tried: turning off smart connect at which point the 2.4ghz on the normal wifi goes away and I just see -5g and -6g. I did a full factory reset and that did not fix the issue. I tried unplugging for 2 minutes and then doing a factory reset, unplugging for another 2 minutes and turning everything back on and the 2.4ghz radio will not work. The 2.4ghz light on the front of the router is lit, but I cannot see the network from any device and it WAS working just fine for the first couple of days that I had the router.Solved160Views0likes3CommentsCan LAN interface of RS100 be set to a public IP address?
I have obtained a /29 range of public IP addresses from my ISP. That /29 network resides on the LAN interface of the cable router/modem/whatever you want to call it. At the moment I am using a Zyxel router for the job and it works well- it has no issue with letting me set the LAN IP address to a public IP address- but for some reason it limits my upload speed to <100Mb/s where it's supposed to be 200Mb/s. I tried a Sagemcom device as an alternative. It has no problem hitting the 200Mb/s upload speed BUT it will not allow me to set the LAN interface IP to a public IP address (45.11.x.x) - it says 'Invalid IP address'. Before I go to the bother of purchasing an RS100 (and then having to return it if it doesn't work), I am trying to find out whether it will allow me to set the LAN IP address to a public IP address. Any advice would be much appreciated!359Views0likes12CommentsI just spent $400 on a new Netgear Nighthawk router
I just spent $400 on a new Netgear Nighthawk router only to find out it has the same problem as the old out of service RAX43 router. If it’s a Windows issue, I don’t think MS is too interested in fixing it. After all they would rather sell their cloud storage, One Drive. I would imagine that Netgear would have more of an interest in finding a fix as Readyshare only adds to the valve of the router. I am using One Drive more than I am using Readyshare, since my Readyshare access is undependable and random. But it isn’t just the Readyshare access that disconnects, it is also the access to the Router’s setting page. That may be why Netgear is now selling the idea of using an Android app instead of a PC.Solved858Views0likes54Comments
