Router DNS settings do nothing

Being able to set the default DNS for everyone in the house is extremely important.

I set up my router to use Quad9 as the primary DNS; the setting does nothing.

https://on.quad9.net/ says `No, you are NOT using quad9.`

Unfortunately, I am not able to install better firmware, which is at `V1.0.6.16`.

Status: `No new firmware available`

  • The router was not the problem.

Agreed.  Chrome, FireFox, Safari, and Edge all can be set up to use different DNS from the OS (and therefore not the same as the router DNS config).
