Nighthawk RS300 Wireless Router Randomly Fails Requires Power Reset
I've had this router for about a month now. Sadly, it's too late to return it to BestBuy.
In the course of the month, I've had all my devices get kicked off he Wifi and they cannot get back on until I disconnect/reconned the power on the RS300. This has happened about 6 times total. Tonight, I thought to check for firmware update, and there was one available. I was hopeful it would fix the issue. Well, after applying the firmware update it only took about 15 minutes for it to fail this time. To confirm that the fault is with the router, I unplugged it completely and plugged back in my 10-year-old Netgear Wifi configured with the same SSIDs and passwords, and immediately all my devices came back to life. Clearly, the issue is with the router.
netgear What remedy to we have. Can I return this? Do you all know what this problem is? I have over 40 years of networking experience. I don't think I'm misdiagnosing the failure here. It all started with this new unit and other are complaining of the exact same behavior.

Hi fingercurse,
Did you try these?
* disable Smart Connect, use different SSID for different band
* check if the intermittent connection issue happens only in certain band?
* if it happens on the 5GHz band, try to set the 5GHz to channel 40 and mode "Up to 1.5 Gbps", just for diagnostic purpose.
