NightHawk RS700/BE19000 vs ORBI 970/BE27000
Would appreciate feedback from anyone with actual experience using both of these specific devices. Please don't reply with second hand information or hear say.
I've used NightHawk routers for the last 10-12 years. Started with AC19000 which operated fine. Replaced by AXE11000 which operated fine. Replaced by BE19000 about a month ago and is still plagued with problems. So, I am looking at the OBRI as an alternative, I don't want to move to ORBI if the product is the same basic HW/FW as NightHawk.
A few questions concerning the ORBI.
- Does the ORBI have an active cooling fan?
- Does the ORBI share the same basic web UI as the NightHawk? I understand there are differences for the mesh.
- Does the ORBI administrative UI display the internal temperature?
- Does the ORBI suffer the same FW problems as the NightHawk? (NVRAM corruption, etc.)
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the comparison, I'll avoid ORBI as a replacement.
I've got multiple cases open with support concerning FW V1.0.11.6 on RS700. Biggest problems: 1) losing device name/type/model information 2) anytime I make a change to a setting and press "Apply", it takes about 01 minute 20 seconds to complete. Support is declaring NVRAM corruption, not me!

What is this NVRAM corruption you refer too? Where are you getting this 2nd hand or hear say information from?
What problems are you seeing? Details would be more helpful.
I've had my RS700 online since last Friday and not seeing any corruptions. RS has been booting correctly and operating normally.
- No - Put one on top of mine just for added cooling. Same when I have my RS router online.
- Mostly same layout. Just no Smart Connect features on Orbi systems.
- No.
- No. No "nvram corruptions" seen on my RS router.
