I’ve been using the RS700 router for about two weeks. Everything was fine at the beginning, but recently it started to randomly lose Internet connection. Here’s what happens: The Internet suddenly disconnects while in use The Internet LED does not turn amber immediately — there is a short delay/gap before it finally turns amber Rebooting the router or applying any setting will immediately restore the connection The issue occurs randomly and frequently The modem and ISP connection seem stable. It looks like the problem is happening inside the RS700. Firmware versions tested (same issue on both): V1.0.9.16 V1.0.9.6 Is this a known issue? Any suggestions for troubleshooting or a temporary fix? Thanks in advance!73Views0likes4CommentsRS700 firmware 1.0.9.16 issue
Hi all, I updated the FW to 1.0.9.16 from 1.0.7.96. The Internet LED light turns red around 1 hour after updating the FW. When the internet LED is red, no network for the devices even the PC connected by wire. I try to solve it by rebooting the router and the modem. But this didn’t help. I have to reboot the router every hour. Then I roll back the FW to 1.0.7.96. This seems rolling back FW solved the problem.97Views0likes4CommentsRS700 - Firmware problems ongoing
Firmware version is currently v1.0.9.16 because the updated version v1.0.9.6 basically nuked the router and nothing would connect to the internet. I reverted it back to the v1.0.7.96 version and still had trouble getting that to work correctly. there is apparently a trial version firmware out there but I cannot seen to locate a legit download for it without contacting user: "BH_C NETGEAR Expert" Trial firmware v1.0.9.101_25.7.19 which is supposed to be for the RS700 fixes the issues described in multiple threads in this RS700 forum. I have discussed the issues for the better part of 4 hours with netgear support, being promised a call back, which never happened either time, and I had to call them back to try to fix the problems with the router. Then after being on the phone with them until 3:00am trying to fix the problem, they closed my case and the problems are still not fixed. Problems: #1. As others have stated, router is online and then loses connectivity (orange internet light) around 3 am and never regains stability until a reboot. Once the reboot is performed, not all devices will auto-reconnect to the network. #2. Netgear support in general is less than helpful and gives inaccurate information as to when a callback is going to happen, if it even does. When the router is being used for work-from-home functionality and is malfunctioning, that causes a serious problem, which was explained to their support reps as well. For some reason, this router went from being solid, to being a complete pillar of garbage after the firmware was auto-updated. Yes i do have a case number (closed by netgear without resolution) and yes I appear to be among the many people beyond frustrated and fed-up with the quality and service of Netgear products. If there is anything that will fix this problem, trial version or tested and proven, i am willing to try it at this point as setting up yet another multi-hundred dollar router is not an option for me and this router is less than a year old. Thank you in advance for any help anyone is able to offer on getting this fixed.130Views0likes5CommentsRS700 Readyshare photos
I just installed a nighthawk RS700 router and updated to the newest firmware. I installed a thumbdrive in the USB port that has folders with photos and music. I have no problem mapping to the network location of the drive, and I'm not totally sure if my problem is related to the router or the display TV I use to display the pictures from the drive, but to begin with, the router I replaced had a similar media server and it displayed thumbnails of the pictures readily on my Samsung TV when I clicked on a folder. With this new router, I see the folders, open them, and see placeholders but no thumbnail pictures. These are the same pictures, same thumb drive, same TV. Only difference is the router. Is there something I can do to get the thumbnails created? What could be the problem?32Views0likes0CommentsRS700S Firmware V1.0.9.16 not working with NOKIA XS-010X-Q ONT
RS700S Firmware V1.0.9.16 still does not work with my NOKIA XS-010X-Q ONT The last version of the firmware that works with the NOKIA ONT is V1.0.7.82 With firmware version V1.0.7.82 I get 500 mbs download and 500 mbs upload speeds. With any firmware version after that I get 250 mbs download and 1 mbs upload speeds. My fiber plan is 500 mbs download and upload from my service provider. I am with Cox in the Phoenix AZ area. My daughter has a different ONT for her service in the Chandler AZ area and has issues also but not as drastic as my issues.13Views0likes0CommentsRS700 - passing L2TP traffic to internal server
[NOTE: I am preconfiguring an RS700 on my local LAN so I can send it to a remote family member. Hence, the "external" address of the RS700 is a private address (192.168.3.155); the LAN/internal address range for the RS700 is 192.168.10.x] I'm running an RS700 and am trying to pass through L2TP VPN traffic to a Synology server (192.168.10.5) and let it manage the VPN. RS700 Firmware: V1.0.9.16_2.0.106 I have configured Port Forwarding for UDP 500, 1701 & 4500, and designated the internal IP as 192.168.10.5 (Synology server). When I try to connect to 192.168.3.155 from 192.168.3.151, I receive an "L2TP VPN server did not respond" message. Expected behavior is that the traffic will get forwarded to the Synology server and the VPN login will be processed successfully. I have verified correct login credentials by connecting to the Synology VPN from the 192.168.10.x network. Any ideas? Logs indicate: Mon Nov 17 19:13:07 2025 : publish_entry SCDSet() failed: Success! I can't believe how old this optimization is for people that utilize QOS. Being a RS700 high end router I find it disappointing that this is what I am met with in QOS optimization. Version: v1.478,0.1.11 Release Date: 2023/06/08 Can we please get an update on this? It is almost 2026 and you are going to tell me this 2023 optimization is still the best? I find that very hard to believe. While I am talking about updates, I appreciate the 1.0.9.16 firmware update, would really love to see more frequent firmware updates, I understand Tri Band Routers are new and incredibly complicated. With that being said, I have confidence in the engineers at Netgear. More frequent updates to firmware equals better performance and security. That is just my two cents on this. Anyways, thank you Netgear for continuing to make great products.104Views0likes2CommentsRS700 IPv4 Lease Not Renewing (still not fixed).
I have a Nighthawk RS700 currently running firmware 1.0.9.16. There is a problem with renewing the IPv4 lease. If I restart the router it picks up an Ipv4 address with a 24 hour lease. After 12 hours it should release and then renew that lease for another 12 hours. However, instead of doing this, it retains this lease for the full 24 hours, at which time it does, then release and renew the lease and this is where the problem happens. When it renews the lease, it shows the Lease Obtained as 1 Days, 0 Hours 0 Minutes and below that it shows Lease Expires as 49710 Days, 6 hours, 27 Minutes (first picture). Some hours later all IPv4 traffic stops (second picture). All the lights on the router remain white and the Ipv4 Lease Expires display continues to count down, but most websites can no longer be reached. The only websites that continue to work are those with an IPv6 address, such as Google, Amazon etc. Sometimes it is possible to renew the lease by using the Release and Renew buttons, sometimes you cannot log into the router at all, and the only option is a hard reset. Exactly the same problem is exhibited with firmware 1.0.9.6, however downgrading to firmware 1.0.7.96 makes problem go away and the router renews the IPv4 lease every 12 hours, as expected. The thing is I really would like to continue being able to upgrade to the latest firmware as we are all waiting for the big one that enables MLO. Further information. I have a Nighthawk RS200 running firmware 1.0.5.22 that does not exhibit this problem. I also have a Nighthawk AX6000 that, also does not have this problem. My ISP is Community Fibre in London, UK. I have a fibre to the premises connection. My ONT is a Adtrans SDX621i connected to the router with a CAT8 cable. As I bought the router second hand and it had already been registered, I do not qualify for the 90 day free support from Netgear. Another user describes a similar/same problem here.
