My 18 Month old RS700s Bought on Amazon but shipped to Thailand has just now lost all 5 Ghz Connectivity . . I did not notice at first until i tried an ookla speedtest, I have 1 Gb connection and always got high 900s, all of a sudden down in the 150s hmmmm Started messing around with my NightHawk App, plus online access to the Router. After many hours/Days now i seem to have tried everything i can find and think of Have multiple devices in the apartment with the newest connecting to the 6 Ghz channel, and everything else the 2.4 Ghz Channel The 5 Ghz channel does not even broadcast, it was on Smart Connect, I turned that off to view the 3 networks, but only 2.4 and 6 Ghz show (it is set to broadcast in the admin Panel) Wired connections working Fine, the 6 Ghz channel ok (Not as fast as i would have thought) But the 5 Ghz is missing completely, i even tried enabling the Guest-5G Channel and that did not even show (Broadcast) I am hoping someone can help me here please as driven me crazy, and although the RS700s is still in hardware warranty with living in Thailand no chance of me being able to return to Netgear ? Any answers any suggestions all would be appreciated Please Cheers Phil123Views0likes9CommentsAT&T, said their gateway was the cause of my issues.
Guess what? I've got the exact same problem, and my ISP, AT&T, said their gateway was the cause of my issues. They replaced the gateway and I no longer have any issues. I also get full speed on all 3 wifi bands, all of them set to Auto. Also, when I called Netgear, I was NOT repeat NOT told I had to upgrade anything or that the issue was related to security in any way.76Views0likes1CommentNetgear said I need to pay for premium service for my router to work
I just got off the phone with netgear, they told me since I did not pay for premium service and security which is $300 on top of what you pay for the router it will work again, they said the new firmware in 2026 will force every new netgear router owner to pay or your router will loose internet connection. So on top of $622 for the rs700s I have to pay $300 more for the premium service that will keep the router up is what I was told straight from netgear. They said the new firmware will force you to pay for this and they said every router company is doing this. So tell me if this is true or not239Views0likes13CommentsNew netgear firmware will brick your internet
after the new firmware my 5ghz band was forced to 3 times slower and for the router to loose connection from the cable modem and no it is not the cable modem, the whole router would loose internet but if you look at the router all the WiFi bands are up, but the connection out is down. Nothing has changed in the 6 months I have had this router now after the update this was the first time seeing the rs700s loose internet connection, the only thing that has changed was new netgear firmware update then all this crap started to happen, I was running perfect for 6 months tell the new firmware update, funny how combines say they test this but push out the bad firmware anyway. It all was running perfect before the last update. Netgear has some serious issues if they keep on pushing firmware that will not work on how the router is intended to work. Issues with new firmware On the 5ghz band you can not go auto unless you want slow speed you have to choose new channel since auto now goes to slowest speed, I did not pay over $600 for 1/2 a router Loose internet connection at least once a day and even in the logs it is not recorded why The router should last more than 6 months with only 40 devices connected, I do have a extra rs700s in the box unopened and if worse comes to worse I will replace my rs700s with the new one but turn off the updates because it jacked up my router big time294Views0likes7CommentsRS700 - 5GHz Wifi - Channel Auto 40
Hello, I have noticed my wifi 6 (802.11) devices are getting a slower connection around 180mbps, it used to be around 350-450 mbps when performing a speed test. Upon looking into router configuration, I can confirm the wifi 5GHz is set to Channel: Auto and Mode: up to 5.8 Gbps. However if I click on Advanced Home and scroll down to see the wireless configuration, I do see channel Auto (40) and mode up to 0.7 Gbps. If I change the channel manually to higher upwards of 128, I do get better speeds on wifi 6 devices. Any reason why 5GHz auto channel is default to channel 40? How do I correct this manually without choosing a specific channel? Router Model: Nighthawk RS700 Firmware Version V1.0.10.8_2.0.109 Thanks CTSolved656Views0likes8CommentsBlocked Texts
Hello, I recently noticed some of my texts are being blocked on my iphone but only when I am connected to the RS700 router. I also use Netgear Armor on the router and downloaded app on the phone. I also run Nord VPN on my phone. I do not use the Netgear Armor VPN. I only use scam alert service and email account protection on the Armor app on my phone. I tested turning off only the NordVPN but I still did not receive texts. Once I disconnected from the Wi-Fi on my phone, I get a slew of texts that I didn’t receive while I was connected. So I know it’s not the VPN. And its only this home Wifi connection. Not at work. Anyone know why? Or what to try? Thanks for any information and help.325Views0likes15Comments
