I've been setting up NoIP and the VPN Service on my RS700. I'm on firmware version V1.0.9.6_2.0.100. After much tinkering and following much of the helpful advice here, I have a connection that works. However, I am getting this error in the log, which I have seen others post about but update the firmware seems to be the solution(?). I'm on the latest firmware. Thu Oct 23 17:12:39 2025 WARNING: No server certificate verification method has been enabled. See http://openvpn.net/howto.html#mitm for more info. When I add remote-cert-tls server to my .ovpn file, which in my understanding is good practice to include, my connection fails: Thu Oct 23 17:15:09 2025 Certificate does not have key usage extension Thu Oct 23 17:15:09 2025 VERIFY KU ERROR I've stopped started the VPN Service multiple times, re-copied the config files etc but can not get the connection working with remote-cert-tls server in my .ovpn file. The certificate provided by the router seems to be missing the necessary Key Usage (KU) flags. How do I fix this, please?466Views0likes20CommentsRS700 sending BDPU on WAN
Supposedly this was fixed on other models but I just got a MikroTik and its BDPU guard got tripped and the port it was on got blocked and this is on the latest firmware 1.0.10xx firmware. The switch's traffic stats show incoming BDPU packets on the port that the R700 is connected to.148Views0likes4CommentsNOTICE - RS100/200/300/500/600 and 700 Beta Firmware Opportunity

Hi all, Was wondering if maybe there is a way to fix the bufferbloat caused by this router while gaming? The QOS is awful, tried that, limited download even and upload.. still got a F on Waveform bufferbloat test. I realize I really screwed up buying this as a competitive gamer, and realize now this is not remotely a gaming router. For some reason it showed up on Amazon search as a gaming router. Ive already disabled armor, turned off flow, but I think I am in between a rock and a hard place. I can not find any alternative firmware with real sqm, or any firmware for that matter. Was curious if there is a way to get beta updated firmware? I am not sure what to do, I hate to eat a $600 dollar waste, but its looking like that is my only alternative. I knew I should have bought an ASUS. I am a dummy.227Views0likes10CommentsCurrently I'm on old firmware rebooting the router 1-3 times a day
Netgear has had me provide dumps, run beta firmware, replaced the router, separate 2.4 devices in isolation of the guest network, reset factory settings, etc. They wanted me to run a different set of beta firmware.. I have had so many calls with them and tried so many things I have asked for a replacement to something other than the RS line/same set of firmware. Currently I'm on old firmware rebooting the router 1-3 times a day. I'm about after 20 years to leave Netgear. The quality reminds me of Citrix processors in the 90's. Very disappointing for a $580 investment.110Views1like1Comment
