After updating my Nighthawk RS700 router’s firmware to V1.0.9.6, several devices stopped connecting, and the device name database became corrupted where device names got assigned to other devices randomly. I understand his is a known bug that Netgear has yet to resolve. Despite spending hours with Netgear support and opening multiple cases, their only fix was to downgrade the firmware to 1.0.7.96, which resolved the connectivity issues but not the device name database problem. Support offered a trial firmware, but communication stalled and my cases disappeared from their website. Has anyone else had this issue and found a resolution by any chance? When I spoke with support they said there was no trial firmware that addresses this problem. I wish I had taken a screenshot of the message sent by a Netgear representative in response to a case that I had opened with this issue.56Views0likes4CommentsIssues logging into router RS700
I have 2 netgear routers RS700. My main router that is connected to the internet I am able to log into the router to change any settings I may need. The 2nd router that ia connected to the 1st router thru ethernet cable (LAN-LAN), I can’t login to change settings in the router. I reset it, I log with admin/password, I do the new password, 2 questions, once I save, that it should go to the page for me to log into using my new password I get the following screen below: After I got this screen in the 1st time I read it the whole process again, by using router’s serial number, creating new password, answering the 2 security questions, saved, then the software states I need to log into using the new password and I get back to this screen in the picture again. I tried ovwr 4 times with no luck. Can anyone let me know how to fix this infinite loop please? Thank you12Views0likes1CommentRs700 1.0.9.6 Issue Intermittent Internet Droputs
I updated my rs700 with the latest firmware and ever since upgrading my internet was randomly dropping out. It was completely random and happening several times during the day. Troubleshooting I downgraded the firmware back to 1.0.7.96 and all of my issues resolved itself. I really don't know what I could upload to help but I just wanted to post something in case others with this router are experiencing the same issue with the latest firmware.75Views0likes4CommentsRS700 400-500 Mbp's Down/ 50 Up
Hello! I really need some help on figuring this out. My router will not, under any circumstances, maintain 1 Gbps up or down speeds. When i reboot the router the RS700 I get 1Gig up and down no problem. Then all the sudden it drops down to 500 up and 50 down. I have turned off QOS, Traffic Monitoring, Access List, Armor, Open NAT, Parental Controls, there was essentially NO security turned on. Still giving me 500 and 50 down. I have factory reset the RS700, left it on default settings, same thing. 1 Gig Up and Down after a reboot for about 10 minutes, then back to 500/50. I have the RS700 and RS300. The RS300 DOES NOT do this. Also these speeds are at the router itself using it's inbuilt speedtest with ookla. I put the RS300 and I get 1 gig up and down. The RS700, even on factory reset will not do this. It always reverts to 500 up and 50 down after a few minutes. What in the world is causing this? This thing way WAY too expensive for this.103Views0likes16CommentsBE (RS) series sending out BPDU on WAN
I am a network admin and have seen the same BPDU issue cited in this link (below). It is coming from multiple make/model BExxxx RSxx / RSxxx series Netgear routers. I would like to know what firmware solved this - as referenced in the PM towards the end of the thread in the link - https://community.netgear.com/discussions/nighthawk-wifi-7-be/be9200-sending-bpdu-out-wan-port/2405193Solved81Views0likes6CommentsRS700 firmware update 1.0.9.6
Hi After upgrading to 1.0.9.6, something has prevented some of my 2.5ghz devices from being able to connect to wpa2/3 setting when smart connect is enabled. the only way to resolve was to disable smart connect and change security to wpa2 only, or downgrade firmware which I have now done, and everything is working perfectly again. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks1.1KViews0likes53CommentsInternet LED Behavior - RS700
The Internet LED on my new RS700 is always solid white in normal operation, it never blinks. The manual says it should blink when there is internet traffic. I talked with support and the tech assured me that solid white was normal for the RS700 and that the manual was in error. I'm still wondering though. Can other RS700 tell me if they are seeing the same behavior?Solved203Views0likes11CommentsNighthawk WiFi 7 Router RS700S new firmware update not alerting???
This router is advertised as "The most powerful & advanced Nighthawk router ever." yet there is no indication or alert to the latest firmware (Version 1.0.9.6), why is that? The latest firmware was released JULY 7, 2025 & seems to address about 9 bugs (security issues) and add some features yet the router wont bring this to my attention, I had to go dig for it. Am I missing something? Even my Buffalo Airstation router from 2012 would indicate a firmware update so why is this "Flagship" router silent regarding what seems to be an important update? Not impressed so far....160Views0likes7CommentsRS 700 will not allow some devices to connect to internet after last firmware update
Updated my RS 700 to 1.0.9.6 and now it takes 2 or 3 reboots for it to sync with the modem and when it does, it will not allow 2 of my devices on the 2.4ghz network to connect to the internet. I’ve replaced those devices with new ones and the same thing happens during setup, the respective tech support teams are at a loss. 5ghz and 6ghz bands seem fine, the 2.4ghz seems to have reduced range. Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.Solved179Views0likes10CommentsRS700 firmware update 1.0.9.6 breaks Windows Server DCHP
For context, I use Windows Server 2019 DHCP for my DHCP Server, so I disable the DHCP feature on the router. After the 1.0.9.6 update I found that the Windows DHCP Server was broken and gave the error "The DHCP/BINL service has encountered another server on this network with IP Address, 192.168.1.1, belonging to the domain: ." Well 192.168.1.1 is the router, so I double check and DHCP is still disabled on the router, but Windows Server thinks the router is a DHCP server anyway, so I believe there is some bug in 1.0.9.6 that is making the router broadcast itself as a DHCP even when it is disabled. I downgraded to 1.0.7.96 and so far I don't have the problem anymore, but I'll have to check more later since I did find that on 1.0.9.6 if I temporarily unplugged the ethernet from the server that Windows would happily start the DHCP service, so having it work now doesn't fully convince me that it wasn't a configuration error on my part. For some additional notes: The IP address given to my PC was not what my Windows DHCP server would provide, or what the router would have provided had DHCP been enabled, but it looked like something a DHCP server might provide since it was 192.168.1.100 (which is still in range of the router's default configuration, but I think it would have started with x.x.x.2 not, x.x.x.100), but maybe that is something windows falls back to, but if I remember right in ipconfig the info it did list the router, and not the Windows Server, as the DHCP server. I'm mostly posting this information in case anyone else has experienced this problem, and so that maybe Netgear will look into the issue.140Views0likes5Comments
