I just got off the phone with netgear, they told me since I did not pay for premium service and security which is $300 on top of what you pay for the router it will work again, they said the new firmware in 2026 will force every new netgear router owner to pay or your router will loose internet connection. So on top of $622 for the rs700s I have to pay $300 more for the premium service that will keep the router up is what I was told straight from netgear. They said the new firmware will force you to pay for this and they said every router company is doing this. So tell me if this is true or not93Views0likes6CommentsNew netgear firmware will brick your internet
after the new firmware my 5ghz band was forced to 3 times slower and for the router to loose connection from the cable modem and no it is not the cable modem, the whole router would loose internet but if you look at the router all the WiFi bands are up, but the connection out is down. Nothing has changed in the 6 months I have had this router now after the update this was the first time seeing the rs700s loose internet connection, the only thing that has changed was new netgear firmware update then all this crap started to happen, I was running perfect for 6 months tell the new firmware update, funny how combines say they test this but push out the bad firmware anyway. It all was running perfect before the last update. Netgear has some serious issues if they keep on pushing firmware that will not work on how the router is intended to work. Issues with new firmware On the 5ghz band you can not go auto unless you want slow speed you have to choose new channel since auto now goes to slowest speed, I did not pay over $600 for 1/2 a router Loose internet connection at least once a day and even in the logs it is not recorded why The router should last more than 6 months with only 40 devices connected, I do have a extra rs700s in the box unopened and if worse comes to worse I will replace my rs700s with the new one but turn off the updates because it jacked up my router big time92Views0likes7CommentsRS700 - 5GHz Wifi - Channel Auto 40
Hello, I have noticed my wifi 6 (802.11) devices are getting a slower connection around 180mbps, it used to be around 350-450 mbps when performing a speed test. Upon looking into router configuration, I can confirm the wifi 5GHz is set to Channel: Auto and Mode: up to 5.8 Gbps. However if I click on Advanced Home and scroll down to see the wireless configuration, I do see channel Auto (40) and mode up to 0.7 Gbps. If I change the channel manually to higher upwards of 128, I do get better speeds on wifi 6 devices. Any reason why 5GHz auto channel is default to channel 40? How do I correct this manually without choosing a specific channel? Router Model: Nighthawk RS700 Firmware Version V1.0.10.8_2.0.109 Thanks CTSolved519Views0likes15CommentsBlocked Texts
Hello, I recently noticed some of my texts are being blocked on my iphone but only when I am connected to the RS700 router. I also use Netgear Armor on the router and downloaded app on the phone. I also run Nord VPN on my phone. I do not use the Netgear Armor VPN. I only use scam alert service and email account protection on the Armor app on my phone. I tested turning off only the NordVPN but I still did not receive texts. Once I disconnected from the Wi-Fi on my phone, I get a slew of texts that I didn’t receive while I was connected. So I know it’s not the VPN. And its only this home Wifi connection. Not at work. Anyone know why? Or what to try? Thanks for any information and help.269Views0likes15CommentsI'm not savvy enough to know what "bufferbloat" is
I'm not savvy enough to know what "bufferbloat" is, but I have been having a HORRIBLE time gaming with this router. I have Frontier Fiber FiOS at 2 gigabit speed, and have to literally reboot the router mid-sessions almost EVERY time I play an online game like ARC Raiders, Fortnite, Helldivers 2 or other multiplayer online game. I'm using a PS5 Pro plugged directly into an ethernet port on the router (no wireless ever) using a top-end 3ft cable from Infinite Cable, have set up on the PS5 Pro to use the CloudFlare DNS on the PS5's advanced network settings, assigned the PS5 a pre-set IP address and put that IP address in for the DMZ, turned off QoS, IPv6, and still am having network-wide crashes where every device - including things like family iOS devices - losing access to things like Facebook and YouTube which - again - requires a full router restart. I have the latest publicly available version of the firmware as well and it has not helped any. This is insane that a $600 router is this unreliable.386Views0likes14CommentsRS700S Firmware Version 1.0.10.8 IoT Option Missing
So looking at the change logs for the RS700 you added a new feature, Added an IoT network function in the web user interface." But no matter where I look, I cannot find this option anywhere. Is it because smart connect is disabled? I updated manually over 1.0.9.16.Solved628Views0likes13Comments
