Typically, when a desktop computer is connecting with Ethernet, there is no WiFi logon box in the lower right corner:

If you click on the computer picture, that should bring up the WiFi menu. (p.s. 99% of users would use one or the other, but not both at the same time. If it is convenient to leave the new desktop close to the router, I would stick with Ethernet)
