Please look at the product label, often on the bottom of the case, and report the complete product number. This web site will look up the User Manual which explains the meaning of LEDs.

Although it looks red, it is actually amber. (Not unusual, lots of Netgear's amber LEDs appear red to me in some lighting conditions).
The 4 ethernet LAN ports on the back or your router support gigabit ethernet. The amber color means that at least one of these LAN ports has negotiated a slower speed (usually 100 mbps, but it could even be 10 mbps). It is pulsing because there is traffic going to/from the ethernet-connected devices.
This is not necessarily an error - there are plenty of wired devices out there that use fast ethernet instead of gigabit. Printers, IoT devices, TVs etc.
But it could also be a faulty or old ethernet cable or a bad connector on the router. If you can give us more info on what you have connected to the LAN ports, we could help you figure that out.

Howdy,
Thanks for the link to the manual. very thoughtful for sure. In response to your questions, I have only 3 devices using the LAN ports. My PC, my laptop (using a ethernet to USB adapter, and a QNAP NAS. with that little bit of dangerous knowledge, I started to unplug each one and apparently the NAS is causing the issue. The light turned white after i unplugged the NAS. I'm going to contact them for troubleshooting tips since the router is functioning perfectly. Thanks to everyone responding just proving customer support is fantastic at Netgear!
have a good day

Definitely the problem then.
While waiting on QNAP, try:
- Connecting the QNAP to a different LAN port on the router. If that is also amber, it rules out a bad LAN port in the router.
- Using the PC or Laptop ethernet cables with the NAS. If that resolves it, the problem is the cable.
If neither help, then look for a second NIC on the back of the QNAP. (Many NAS, including some QNAP models have more than one). If you have another one, try switching to it.
