iPhone Wifi Calling on Airplane Mode

Wifi call prompting "no network connection disable airplane mode" message occurs while the Wifi is connected and airplane mode is enabled. The control center should present the "cellular carrier - Wifi" when things are working. In this case, it is not displayed. Note that I am still able to do web browsing in this configuration - so network connection is available.
Googled my situation - here is Google AI's reply:
"The culprit is likely a bugged IPsec ALG or firewall implementation in recent Netgear firmware which blocks the secure tunnels required for carrier Wifi calling. Other Nighthawk RS200 users have reported this exact issue on Netgear forums. While you wait for the engineering team, a few specific router configurations can bypass the block. 1 Disable Port Scan and Dos Protection. 2 Turn off Smart Connect. 3 Check for IPsec ALG (Beta Firmware).
I did connect with the Netgear support last night and they are working on a solution. I'm very happy with the Netgear support team and also pretty happy with Google AI.

I think Google has the IPsec ALG bit wrong.
There is SIP ALG. If that is enabled, then definitely disable it. The manual says that the SIP ALG is enabled by default - which is really unfortunate, since modern SIP infrastructures don't need it, and that ALG can definitely interfere with VoIP calls.
