RS700 DNS issues
Hi, I’ve noticed what appears to be DNS leakage in the latest two versions (1.0.11.8 & 1.0.11.6) I use custom DNS for adblocking and with both versions I’ve seen what would normally be blocke...
I've asked NG to see what is expected behavior for the Automatic DNS setting on RS Routers. Seems that auto is default and is using Cloudfare that NG has set for this option currently.
I'm using custom DNS on my RS600 and RS700 currently.
Just updating this. NG seems to have a backup DNS which is a 3rd DNS service used in case if the primary DNS fail to respond. However, the handling of the detection of the DNS services and the order they are prioritized isn't to what NG is expecting.
NG is aware of this and is working on it.

I’m curious as to why this 3rd DNS is now needed when it hasn’t been since product launch.
Having other DNS in use especially when using custom DNS is an issue.Looks like I’ll have to stay on 1.0.10.8 for the future.
im sure they will get it fixed.
I’m sure they will too but there will still be an issue around custom DNS, if Netgear’s third DNS gets used it then bypasses any filtering etc that might be set by the primary and secondary DNS.
This 3rd DNS by Netgear must be optional or at least disabled if custom DNS is set.
