RS700 ipv6 lost when modem drops
I have Spectrum cable internet and noticed when my modem loses connection. I lose ipv6 when it comes back up. If I reboot the router, IPv6 comes back. Thoughts? Using auto detect RS700, it selects DH...

What do you mean by AUTO IPv6? Do you mean auto config? I used auto detect and it set it to DHCP which sounds right to me being I’m on cable internet that uses it. 🤷 I don’t want to use custom dns, I understand for testing purposes. But that’s not exactly a fix if it’s firmware related. Thanks for passing it onto NG for they can look more into it. Hopefully other users will chime in with same results I’m seeing. Now I’m seeing why NG has IPv6 off by default. It can still run into issues. 🤷

Yes was curious if AUTO Config has same issue.

Changed it to auto config and will see how it goes. Tried to mimic a modem drop by rebooting the modem and IPv6 was still alive. So, not sure until something happens. 🤷 Question, am I playing configuration roulette here and hoping for the best? I don’t want to mess up my network or have it misconfigured over this? It is even configured right by doing this adjustment? Tested for IPv6 and says I have it with the change made. 🤷

The auto config ipv6 setting wouldn't acquire a wan ip address from the ISP, ipv6 connection is finicky with the new RS series routers. I never had any issue with my old R6700AX router and ipv6 with Xfinity.

Good catch! I went and checked under auto config, sure enough. No wan ip address shown! I switch back to DHCP and it shows. Unless I’m wrong, that tells me DHCP selection is in fact the correct setting.
