RS700 DFS Events
Is there a way to enable DFS event logging on the RS700? I have all check boxes for logging enabled, and it seems the logging for this $700 router is very ... Simple. I live in a congested area with an apartment building next door, hospital nearby with helicopters that land, with many access points congesting the 2.4 and 5Ghz Channels. My router is set to "Smart Connect" and Auto Channel selection, and it frequently will select 5Ghz DFS channels and then get knocked off when a helicopter comes. It would be nice if the logging would include DFS events so that I can review which DFS channels are being used, and to include a Custom Auto channel with specific channels deselected that are problematic. Also, it seems has been quite a while since the last firmware update. I really am hoping we can get some improvements for this router as it lacks functionality of other brands WiFi 7 routers. I may need to make another thread but where is our Multi-Link Operation functionality that was promised? My phone supports it but the RS700 doesn't... yet.

if you have a hospital and helicopter nearby, the dfs channels will only create issues. Set your speeds from "up to 4800mbps" to "up to 2400mbps" and choose a non-dfs channels. It'll keep your network much more stable.
- Jkov87AspirantThanks for the response... I do understand that the DFS channels will create issues, I just wish that aside from more detailed logging specific to the DFS events occurring to better understand which DFS channels may/may not be available and the frequency of occurrence, as this results in a temporary outage, that there should at least be an option to still allow my wifi Channels to remain on "Automatic" selection, but without DFS channels being included, rather than having the alternative be selecting a single specific channel that may work well for now, but then becomes congested in a few days or a week, and having to do this all over again (instead of just restarting the router and letting it choose the best one from all available non-DFS channels). Sigh.. it seems like that shouldn't be a very difficult "feature" to implement on such an expensive router...
I appreciate your input and will try this out.

As mentioned by plemans, manually set your 5GHz channel to a non-DFS one. Channel 149 would be the best one to use since that can work at any range (up to 160 MHz) with no issue. If you have to use channel 36, for the channel width, you can only use up to 80 MHz, which is the same as "up to 2.9 GHz". If you try to go any higher, it'll spill over into DFS channels.
- Jkov87AspirantThanks, unfortunately 5Ghz ch. 149 is very congested, with 10 neighboring access points within -70 to -90 dBm at just 10ft/3m from my RS700. When I go into the bedrooms that are furthest from it, at only 20-30ft away with one interior wood-framed/drywall wall (it's only a barely 800sqft house), the signal of 2 neighboring access points on that same channel rise to -45 to -50dBm, when my RS700 is showing -50 to -55dBm. My speeds drop to an extremely sluggish rx/tx speeds with about 80% packet retries due to to the interference. It's been a very difficult problem to solve. Sometimes their channels will change and either completely or partially cover the channel I've selected, so it becomes this never-ending game of tweaking the router with channel changes to avoid interference.
