Still waiting for MLO support on RS700/RS700S - what’s the actual status?
Hi NETGEAR Team,
I’m a recent owner of the Nighthawk RS700S (WiFi 7) router and, like many others in the community, bought this unit expecting full support for Multi-Link Operation (MLO) — a key WiFi 7 feature that your documentation and marketing reference. However, despite being on the latest firmware version 1.0.9.6 (released 7 July 2025), there is still no visible option or indication of MLO support in the interface.
Here’s what the community has been asking:
- “Does the RS700/RS700S with the latest firmware support MLO?”
- “When can we expect a firmware version that enables MLO?”
- “Why is there no toggle labelled ‘MLO’ or ‘Multi-Link’ in the settings?”
Given the repeated queries and lack of formal update, I’d appreciate your clarity on the following:
- Will the RS700 / RS700S receive full MLO support (i.e., simultaneous use of multiple WiFi bands/links by WiFi 7 clients)?
- If yes, what is the firmware version or expected release timeframe?
- If no, what is the reason (hardware limitation, certification, region rollout, etc.)?
- If the feature is still in development, can you provide a roadmap or status update for transparency?
The router performs very well otherwise, but many of us expected the “WiFi 7” label to include MLO. Without clarity, customers are uncertain about whether the investment delivers the full promised experience.

new firmware was released yesterday, 10/20/2025. Perhaps install that and verify?

I’ve just now installed the latest RS700S Firmware Version 1.0.9.16 (released 20 Oct 2025), but unfortunately there’s still no sign of Multi-Link Operation (MLO) anywhere in the wireless configuration or advanced settings.
Even after a full reboot and checking every Wi-Fi band and advanced menu, there’s still no toggle or reference to MLO as a feature.
It would be great if netgear Team or a moderator could please step in and clarify where things stand regarding MLO support on the RS700 / RS700S.
Many of us have been patiently waiting for an update, and a brief comment or roadmap from NETGEAR would really help set expectations.

So true. Alas, in eight years of being part of the Community Forum, there have been very few times when anyone posted who was identified as a Netgear employee. My impression is that support and engineering staff are assigned to tasks rather than to browsing what customers are talking about. Moderators are tasked with keeping the Forum operating, and thus have no insight into what the engineers are doing.

Just FYI, there is industry wide WIFI7 and MLO issues. Seen with other Mfrs as well. All is involved. I presume when all that has been worked out, MLO will be forth coming to the RS series. NG is aware of the issues. NG doesn't put forth when or a time frame for roll out. Will need to keep an eye on the download site and release notes as new FW comes out. I presume MLO maybe all automatic and handled by FW and devices for those that support it. Thus may not see a switch ON or OFF for MLO. Orbi systems don't have this. However will have to see, if and when MLO appears.
Problem with that argument though for the RS, Orbi has it already and has had it. So, that kind of goes out the window. 🤷♂️
And theres has been problems with it and still on going. So I presume NG maybe holding back and working with all in volved to get all that fixed. So still in house.
