"Up to 5.8 Gbps" it only uses 20 Mhz
I am having the same issue, it keeps going to 20 MHz even though I'm trying to use this for a Quest 3 wireless access point. 20 MHz is not cutting it either for steamVR. I bought this router exclus...

Router is a RS300. The only band enabled with the 6 GHz band, smart connect is off.
Channel 181 (Freq 6855 MHZ @ 160 MHZ bandwidth)
Using multiple wifi analyzer applications
Selecting Up to 2.9 Gbps enables 160 MHZ on the 6 GHz band, but enabling the 5.8 Gbps goes straight to 20 MHz when it should be doing 320 MHz. I have another 6 GHz router that uses channel 5 and it can get access to the full 320 MHz, but this one won't even though the box says it can do 320 MHz in 6 GHz band.

May we know the which WiFi analyzer application was used? windows or MacOS? And type of Wi-Fi adapter used for scanning?

WiFi analyzer on the Android Galaxy S21 Ultra and WiFi Analyzer for Windows 11. The Android one is the one that can show all the frequencies and bandwidth. My other 6G router is an Asus GT-BE98 Pro that has dual 6 GHZ, channel 5 and 133. They can't reach my office though.
The analyzer shows 2 SSID's on the same channel from the Netgear, so I don't know if that is a feature.
The 160 MHZ does work for what I'm trying to stream though, which is F1 25 through Virtual Desktop on a Quest 3. But I would like to know why it can't take the higher bandwidth of 320 MHz. I can tell its not because when I put it to the highest mode, it lags like crazy on SteamVR, but on the second highest, its fine.- WarmHelp_NTGRDec 03, 2025NETGEAR Expert
Thank you for the detailed information so far.
To help us review the 6 GHz performance you’re seeing, could you please confirm whether your 6 GHz channel is set to Auto or manually selected on RS300?
If your 6 GHz channel is set manually instead of Auto, could you please let us know which specific channel is selected on the RS300? - RealSenseiDec 04, 2025Tutor
I have the same router, app, and settings, and I’m seeing the same results as in the image. I noticed that the hidden network matches the one at the bottom. 160MHz + 160MHz = 320. I’m no expert, but I’m wondering why they would be split—hopefully someone can explain.

ChatGPT response based on my screenshot.
— this is normal Wi-Fi 7 behavior. When using 6 GHz with 320 MHz and MLO, the router broadcasts two signals: your main 6 GHz SSID and a Hidden SSID. The hidden one is just a control channel used for MLO and channel stitching, not an extra network. Most Wi-Fi analyzer apps can’t detect 320 MHz yet, so they only show 160 MHz even though the router is running 320 MHz internally.
Thanks, I didn’t know about this. I just switched my settings, and I wasn’t on that 320 MHz before.
