Can anyone help me understand credentials on my ReadyNAS 104?
Hello all,     Firmware 6.10.0  Being accessed from Windows 11     I have just signed up for some iDrive.com cloud storage and I want to include my mapped drives (on the ReadyNAS) in my backup.     I...

You likely had your computer save those credentials, which is why you don't need to enter them. In the admin GUI, you can see the user names and change the passwords, but you can't view the passwords. You can go change the password for the account you are using or create a new account expressly for iDrive to use. If you did save your password to the Windows credential manager and/or browser, you will have to change them there if you change your password. If you do create a new account for iDrive, make sure you give it the access it needs in the appropriate shares. And it's always a good idea to reset the file access to make sure a new user has the proper access to existing folders and files.

- avmadDec 15, 2024AspirantSo as you might have seen from the attachment on my original post, I have two users defined - Admin and TechJock, so you are suggestiong that I must have told windows to use one of those users with its respective password. Thanks - I must get a new memory one of these days. I will have a go at creating a new user to use for iDrive now. Really appreciate the response! - StephenBDec 15, 2024Guru - Experienced User

There is a trick to let you use two - it considers the hostname to be a different machine than the IP address. So you can use one user account for the hostname and a different one for the IP address. Or use TechJock for for iDrive. - avmadDec 16, 2024AspirantSandshark StephenB
I must admit that I have not actually 'done' anything yet. But I have cleaned up the user situation a little on the ReadyNAS.Here are my shares again: If I drill into the 'Videos' share... Then, in terms of users, I removed all but admin: However, there is a cloud user defined: Nothing is set under 'authentication' So my first question is about the 'cloud user': What does this mean in the context of access to my ReadyNAS? I don't know the password associated to this account and ReadyNas does not seem to allow me to change it anyway. Should I delete this user? Moving on, when I had the other users defined (i.e. TechJock), in the folder permissions window, I did not seem to be able to add TechJock to the list of permissioned users. Is that because 'Anonymous' and 'Everyone' were set on? So given where I am now, are my tasks as follows: 1) Create a new ReadyNAS user 2) Turn off 'anonymous' and 'everyone' in the permissions window 3) Add the new user into the permissions for each folder 4) Create new windows network drives (but explicitly using the new ReadyNAS user credentials) 5) Add the new drives into the iDrive backup list Should I be all set at that point? Cheers and thanks again!
