Lacking information about ReadyCloud security

I think you meant R6300, not R630? If so, to you have the first generation or the v2?
FWIW, I agree that Netgear needs to put together a comprehensive security document on ReadyCloud - IMO that's long overdue.
I believe the ReadyCloud VPN connection from the NAS to the cloud is port 6300, so you can try blocking that port outbound. (advanced settings pages, Security->block services). Your router should let you block that on schedule.
There are some alternatives that you could use - owncloud, or maybe openvpn (though I don't think Netgear firmware supports openvpn your router, dd-wrt firmware likely does). Or use port forwarding and ftps.

The thing is I have no experience with this NAS cloud. And the Netgear documentation is incomplete or spread in ways that I have no clue where to find them unless I am experienced.
You won't find a comprehensive security document on ReadyCloud, because it doesn't exist. The features are also a bit of a moving target right now (the newest readynas beta also connects to a beta readycloud).
You can find some information if you google on the older ReadyNAS remote product (which evolved into ReadyCloud). But that is focused on the VPN aspect, and not the web interfaces into the cloud. The information is also sketchy. That was probably ok years back, but IMO isn't now.
So the net is - you either try it out w/o the information you are looking for, or you use something different (and which has the details you want described).
I use other stuff myself (but I do keep my readycloud account active/working, and every now and then I play around with it).
I have understood that the ReadyNas remote has turned into the ReadyCloud. Or at least it is using ReadyNas remote.
But when I open ReadyCloud I do not see "https" only "http". Neither does a friend see this at the other end.
So am I exposing myself as an insecure cloud and do I need to pull the plug from Internet?
Do I need to set up a second NAS to the cloud so I can separate the sensitive data from the cloud data?
And how would I synchronize one of the shared folders from the cloud NAS to the protected NAS?
I saw posts about CryptoLocker taking over some NAS drives, how would I protect myself this from happening?
Expcet from physically pulling the network cable once the back up has been completed.
(I am not a security expert and NAS drives is for me something completely new)
