Backup to DropBox
Can someone interpret the info bubble on the Dropbox cloud feature in the Cloud section of OS 6? "Selecting root folder will sync entire public cloud, preventing you from adding new sessions" ...
- Jul 10, 2017
Hi Blueray3,
Since the root folder is being sync, the message is just letting us know that there is no need to create other sessions for that root folder.

Hello Blueray3,
Under the firmware version 6.7.5 after enabling ReadyDrop the you will be ask to set for "Local path" (NAS) and "Cloud path" (Dropbox) and set what type of sync direction will be followed.
As for the "Adding new sessions" it means that you can create a new session with same local path share/folder different cloud path folder or vice versa.
It is much easier setting up the ReadyDrop on the latest firmware version. I would recommend to setup ReadyDrop on your NAS running on the latest firmware version.
What firmware version is running on your readynas device?

I think the public path you are referring is the same as cloud path. The dropbox setup is basically selecting a specific folder from your dropbox to sync with a specific share/folder on the NAS. The feature cannot sync the root of the dropbox to a share on the NAS.

Have experimented some. Can connect to the root of the dropbox and sync to a ReadyNAS folder. So far it appears that I can add folders to the Dropbox that will then appear in ReadyNAS (bidirectional sync), as well as new folder in the dropbox folder on ReadyNAS will appear in actual Dropbox. So I do not understand the info that appears Cloud page of the ReadyNAS Admin section.

Hi Blueray3,
It is nice to hear that Dropbox feature is working fine now. Can you provide the complete message on that info you are referring to on the Cloud tab on the Admin page.

This was posted earlier in the chain. It is the quote you asked about from the Cloud tab on the Admin page. It was a little cryptic to me in terms of what it actually means: "Selecting root folder will sync entire public cloud, preventing you from adding new sessions"
