DNS Server for ReadyNAS

Hi,

I installed the DNS Server for ReadyNAS and fired it up....I didn't have time to configure it so I shut it down and tried later. It would not allow me to enter it with a SQL DB connection error....I tried to uninstall it, and now it is in a "hung" state. It will not uninstall and the software does not show up in the Install apps tab (it thinks it is still installed). I tried to upload the file..but the installation failed.

Right now, when I try to uninstall it, I get the spinning wheel of death (Removing Application).

Also...the Admin page freezes and I have to close the TAB in Firefox to exit.

I'm running the latest 6.2.3 beta of the software.

Any suggestions?

  • Hi, I don't want to dig a deeper hole. I agree, a config file or something is left over. I'm not exactly sure where to look or what to pull. I don't want to do a complete restoration from backup.
  • Hi, Thanks for the help. Question - I SSH'd into the box and found the DNSServer directory under apps. Can I just toast it?

I deleted a config file and it didn't make a difference. I tried to delete a few directories rm dnsserver/ and get a message, it is a directory.

    My Unix skills are limited...

Before I toast the box and have to do a reinstall, any advice would be great. I'm out of support so I don't think NetGear support will be much help without $$'s.

    Thanks again
  • I Deleted the directory/files and the application "went away". It now shows up as able to be reinstalled.

      Hi

I have the same problem. As I was not able to login for to do the configuration I decided to uninstall the DNS Server for ReadyNas, but the desinstallation brought the hang situation as described above. (Actually the DNS Server did work properly.)

What Directories/Files have to be deleted for to be able to reinstall the application?

      Many thanks

  • Hi, Sorry I did not see you reply the other day. I am not familiar with SSH either, were you able to reinstall and made it work after you have deleted the files on the directory?
