Git addon?
Hi, I had to rebuild my nas and I was looking for the git 1.7.x package but it is no longer available. The respository is too old to use against the current git hub. Help! TIA mwt

how do I get to RAID 6 with 2 redundant drives?
Switch out of X-RAID; add your new disk; then click on the new disk and you should see a "Add Parity" button.
After that you can re-click the X-RAID button.
The usual rule applies - you need the 4 largest disks to be the same size (after adding the new one).

Hmm. I did do apt-get update. What's the repo information? This is an older has so perhaps the firmware is a little out of date.
I don't recall this being an issue about 4-5 years ago when I last set this up.

This is what I have on a unit running 6.5.1:
oom-102:~# cat /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://apt.readynas.com/packages/readynasos 6.5.1 updates apps main deb http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian wheezy main deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main deb http://egnyte-cdn.egnyte.com/storagesync/netgear6/en-us 6.5 egnyte
What firmware are you running?
(It sounds like you had the unit for a while.)

I'm using 4.2.17 - I replaced all the drives and did a factory reset on it.

Updating now ...

Dang. Update made it worse - can't even find the package now!

That version is a little older.
What ReadyNAS are you running?
Since you have done a factory default and if you are interested in getting the later firmware versions with the latest software support from the debian repo there might be an alternative.
There were some threads floating around, but I found this artical highlights the details you would need to know about getting the latest ReadyNASOS 6.x.x on your older unit:
http://netgear.nas-central.org/wiki/OS6_on_Legacy_x86
Note: It does not support the 32bit units (NVX, 1500, and 2100v1).
NETGEAR does not officially support the unit that has been upgraded to the latest (6.x.x) firmware.
Alternatively, you could try adding the following to the /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://archive.debian.org/debian etch main
And installing git-core, which is the older git. The last pack for that repo from from 2010.

Now that I like! 6 looks fantastic. One niggle - how do I get to RAID 6 with 2 redundant drives?
