Logitech Media Server by Super-Poisson not compatible with 6.6.0
In addition to the NasTools version the Super-Poisson version 1.0.6 does not work after upgrading to 6.6.0.

Thanks for the info.
I'm using my PRO 6 solely for streaming music using LMS on 6.5.0 and I asked Super Poussin about the compatibility of his LMS deb add-on with 6.6.0 through email yesterday. Thanks for having tested this already. I will share his response.

I wasn't intending to "test" it. I stupidly assumed that as only the nastools version was on the list of incompatible apps, that I would be OK to upgrade.
Did Super-Poisson reply !
It's a bit of a problem as there seems to only be an ARM version of the nastools version which is compatible.
Now I'm having all sorts of difficulty removing 1.0.6- Supertramp11Luminary
Ok, early-adopting then.
No news yet. When I do I will let you know.

I managed to remove all remnants of Super-Poisson's LMS addon, using ssh,
I installed the Nastools version which actually appears in the available apps list despite the 6.6.0 release post saying it had been removed.
The app installed OK, and so far is working on my 316. Perhaps it is only the arm architecture on which it is incompatible with 6.6.0.

Just to chime in, it's working fine for me on 6.6.0. I have S-P's 1.0.9 add-on installed and the LMS 7.9.x nightly build. It's working as well as it ever has.
Initially I thought it was broken because LMS took longer to come back online than, say, Plex. But I'm relieved to say that's not the case.

I must have dozed off and the firmware has updated again.
I run Super-Poisson's LMS 7.8.
I want to switch up to 7.9 to take advantage of the new features and bug fixes.
Which of the distributions are better/easier to use.
Nightlies are not that important, I can stick with the stable stuff till it hurts.
If I was to install Nastools version is removing the Super-Poisson version best practice?
Or can I just install the 7.9 off of logitech's ?
I just noticed that after the 6.5.2 upgrade the Super-Poisson app has disappeared from the Admin pages.
It is still running, I guess I have to do CLI stuff to stop the app.
Nastools is on the available apps list. Huh. I really just want it to work, and right now it is working.
Thoughts?

Hannover 09:30 - current LMS 7.9 is online again
thx

Remove LMS and Poisson plugin.
Download and install LMS from http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9. Logitech Media Server: Debian Installer Package (ARM) works for me.
Then download and install lms_1.0.9_all.deb from https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ie9pwk1wut72ias/AAASNUx2cSo0TNIqRjNXime9a/Logitech%20Media%20server/7.8.0?dl=0.
Sometimes I have to install it twice before it stick. Don't know why, maybe I'm to impatiant.
Updating the nightly, turn off LMS and upload the new version, wait a minute and turn it on again. Never had any problem until 6.6.0.

Here's something I've found: Even if you switch S-P's LMS (1.0.9) to "Off," the app will still run at bootup. I've been wondering if this isn't causing problems with the data volume not being mounted at boot, which I've started to experience occasionally after upgrading to 6.6.0.

Same sh*** here with a RN204. LMS is not working anymore after the update. I deinstalled LMS and NAS Tools and reinstalled the "logitechmediaserver_7.9.0-1475786002_arm" and "lms_1.0.9_all". (Some messages before someone wrote, it works fine...) I can see the installed programm on the Netgear App Page and die Start Button is "on" - but when I try to open the LMS via IP:9000 there is only an error message :-(
So downgrading to FW 6.5. is not the best idea? Any other option? Anyone made the LMS run with FW 6 6 0 (and RN204)?
Cheers :-/

Downgrading is only a good idea if you are prepared to backup everything (twice, preferably...).
For most that is just too much hassle. If you are in a hurry: Buy a Pi and follow the recipe I linked to above TUTORIAL: Stand alone Squeezebox server and player for BBQ
- ChristianSTAspirant
Since the Update I can't open the LMS and have no access anymore to the Log (IP:9000/server.log) :-(
Is there a different way to find & copy the log file?

Same problem, output of ./squeezeboxserver -d_startup here : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3641262/lms_startup.txt

can you try this on x86_64 system ?
apt-get update
apt-get download libdbi-perl
dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/libdbi-perl_1.631-3+b1_amd64.deb
apt-get install libev-perl
apt-get install libxml-perl
apt-get install libjson-perl
apt-get install libdigest-perl
apt-get install libyaml-perl
apt-get install libsub-name-perl
if everything is ok I will produce a new install script
- super_poussinVirtuoso
you can also try the deb from the community dropbox

I'm having the same problem as described in this thread, but my NAS is a Intel based ReadyNAS system (ReadyNAS 516). So it's not just an ARM based ReadyNAS problem.

then install the lms media server from logitech, then the addon lms ?

I'm not sure how to do that. Can I run commands from OS 6?
- m-frankAspirant
Now i’m up and running again :smileyvery-happy:
First I uninstalled the app from the Admin Page: Apps
Then I ssh and ran the command: "apt-get purge logitechmediaserver", subsequently I manuel deleted the library: /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs, because the ”apt-get purge logitechmediaserver” command did not remove this directory.Finaly i installed the app ”Logitech Media Server NT (v7.9.0.b7dfc80-nt1)” found under the Admin Page: Apps > Available Apps.
Logitech Media Server NT by NAStools, see: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Community-Add-ons/Apps-by-NAStools/td-p/1065415
- MalcolmGAspirant
that's encouraging m-frank, thanks. However it's not showing in my list of available apps (ReadyNAS 102, FW 1.6.6). I've cleared the browser cache and re-tried. Any other thoughts?
Cheers

You can download Logitech Media Server NT by NAStools here:

Unfortunately m-frank's solution doesn't seem to work on my RN104. I still cannot start the LMS. i.e. it switches off immedialtely on the 'Apps'-page, just like before. Not really surprising because, apart from the prefs-dir (/var/lib...), I had already done this and I couldn't fathom why the prefs-dir could pose a problem.
Back to the drawing board...:smileyhappy:

Same problem on my RN102.. I've tried a lot of things now, the answer must be found in this thread :)

Every time Netgear does an update it creates a whole set of new problems for their users. It is very irresponsible to release such buggy software before it is properly tested. I will simply not update again till they get this fixed. I have seriously considered getting rid of these servers and going with a more dependable product.
- DeisterbikerAspirant
I´m also back again, LMS is running on 6.6.
Thx to all

There certainly were too many bugs in some of the previous ReadyNAS releases this year, but I don't think its fair to blame Netgear for the LMS issue.
OS 6.6 included a kernel update (to Debian Jesse), and these apps generally hadn't been updated in a very long time. Personally I don't consider this to be a bug. Windows 10 didn't work with some of my old Windows XP programs, and I don't consider those bugs in Win 10 either.
If Netgear never updates the OS version, then over time it becomes vulnerable to security vulnerabilitles - and newer linux programs can't be installed. So I think there is a need to stay reasonably current.
Something like docker might be a better path for apps - there's an idea there on the idea exchange that you might consider voting for.
