Logitech Media Server
I have a old ReadyNas DUO V1 (ReadyNASRND2000/Sparc) which I have used successfully for several years. However, it has finally failed so I'm looking at getting a replacement. One of the features I ...

So I'm running the Logitech Media Server (hereafter LMS) 1.0.8 add-on from super-poussin (hereafter s-p) using the most up-to-date nightly build of LMS (7.9.0 - 1455631301). It works beautifully.
I have to say, getting LMS set up in ReadyNAS OS 6.x wasn't straightforward. The add-on initially encountered installation errors. And then installing updated versions of the LMS (I think s-p's add-on comes with 7.7) didn't go especially smoothly. If I recall, I had to manually replace existing LMS files from the s-p install with the ones I extracted from the 7.9 nightly tarball. But once it was up and running (with plugins, no less), I set it up so that it downloads nightly updates automatically and then I can install them with a simple terminal command, which is actually provided as part of the update instructions – else I never would have figured it out.
s-p's LMS add-on comes in two flavors: 1.0.6 and 1.0.8. I didn't have much luck with 1.0.6, so I tried 1.0.8. I think it was necessary to install 1.0.6 first, then install 1.0.8 over it.
Sorry my memory of the process is so spotty. So much of it was trial and error—and for a time I was running UE Media Server—that oftentimes it was the equivalent of throwing things at the wall to see what stuck. But short answer to your question: Yes, you can run LMS on newer ReadyNAS machines, and it will work very well with devices in the Squeezebox line.

Oh dear! Looks like the process of enabling LMS on a ReadyNas is still as troublesome as it was when I set it up on a ReadyNas Duo 5 years ago! Have purchased a new ReadyNas RN212 at OS 6.4.2 but can't find any clear instructions on how to enable LMS.
The obvious route would seem to be to select the LMS available via the Apps tab in the ReadyNas admin pages. It's listed as Logitech Media Server, Developer: Poussin, V1.0.6 but when I tried this I got an install error although it subsequently appeared under Installed Apps OK. I turned the App On and can see the server on my network but when I select Music folder, it's shown as empty (it's not, and I can see and play the contents if I use DLNA access).
By trawling various forums I've found reference to other LMS resources including:
- https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ie9pwk1wut72ias/AACr8V9vMB2dC5lbj03l5VyDa/Logitech%20Media%20server?dl=0 where there are later releases of the above app (lms_1.0.7_all.deb, 1.08, 1.09) and various Logitechmediaserver deb files (e.g. logitechmediaserver_7.7.2_all.deb, 7.7.3, 7.8.0) all supplied by Poussin
- http://downloads.slimdevices.com/ has various versions of the above logitechmediaserver files including a v7.9.0 in the nightly build folder
Would appreciate any pointers as to what files to use and the sequence to install. (Is just an lms file required or a LogitechMediaServer file as well? If both, why?) Also are there steps that have to be performed within the LMS Settings pages to make the music library visible to attached network devices (e.g Logitech Radios and Duets).
Thanks
