PHP version Update

Hello,

I have currently PHP Version 5.6.40-0+deb8u7 on my READY NAS 104.

I use it as web server for development and installing latest Wordpress it asks me to update PHP version

I get following message "WordPress has detected that your site is running on an insecure version of PHP.".

How can I update the PHP installed version ?

Thanks for your help

Paolo Martinelli

How did you install PHP in the first place?  If you installed it via a Netgear-specific add-on, the process is different than if you just did an apt-get in SSH.

Are you runing any other apps that may be broken by the upgrade?

I installed as NETGEAR add-on. I am running APACHE server.

Ok, then you best bet is to get the PHP 7.2 add-on from https://rnxtras.com/addons/php-7-2-rnos-6 .  WhoCares, the moderator (and occasional contributor to this forum) does charge a small fee to help pay for the web site, but that fee includes updates until the next major revision.

I believe you will need to un-install the current PHP first.  But you really should, anyway, since it is long past it's suport date.  Even if it doesn't say you need to, you should reboot afterward, too.

WhoCares doesn't say in his description if his add-on updates Apache to use the new PHP.  But I haven't seen any traffic on his site about issues with Apache after installation, so I think it must.
