ReadyNAS 314 - Apps

Hallo,

habe mir ein gebrauchtes ReadyNAS 314 gekauft.

Leider ist schon die neuste Firmware 6.10.10 aufgespielt. Diese bietet leider keine App unterstützung mehr. Diese bräuchte ich aber um das "SMB Plus" App zuinstallieren.

Hätte das ReadyNAS auch gerne in Verbindung mit dem älteren "EVA9100 Express Digital Entertainer" genutzt.

Gibt es noch eine möglichkeit die App zu installieren?

MfG.

    Note that all ReadyNAS products are end of life.  Your NAS uses Debian 8 Linux (Jessie), which was deprecated by the Debian community back in 2020.

    That said, it is still possible to install some of the apps.  Some might require some changes made with ssh.  But I suspect smb plus might install without those changes.

    First you need to download the app. The direct download link is:

    Next try to install it by pretending it is a firmware update.  In other words:

    1. log into the admin web ui
    2. navigate to system->settings
    3. open the "Update" section
    4. click on the "Install Firmware" control right under "Manual Install Firmware"
    5. select the smb plus deb file.

    If that doesn't work, post back and we can help you troubleshoot it.

    FWIW, I still use my own EVA9000 player.  You don't need SMB Plus to use it, as the NAS has SMB 1.0/CIFS enabled by default (and that is what the EVA requires).  FWIW, you can also enable NFS as a sharing protocol on the NAS, as the EVA also works well with NFS.

    While the EVA can scan for network shares, I suggest manually entering the NAS IP (or host name) and the share names on the EVA advanced menus.  That can be tedious - you could try connecting to the EVA with a PC browser, as then you can use the PC keyboard for entry.
