ReadyNAS 316 High command time outs on WD Enterprise SSD

I have six identical WD Enterprise WDC WDS200T1R0A-68A4W0 units and only the one in slot 6 is causing this message in the log. I've read that using SSD disks can cause this issue and looked for an updated Firmware file, but I'm already running 6.10.5 Hotfix 1. It the disk defective or is there something else I should be checking? I'm also getting the antivirus update failure messages, but they just began a few days ago. I'll try the SSH freshclam -v when I get a chance.

You suggested swapping disk 6 and 1 - can I do this when all six disks are one volume in X-Raid mode? Or would that require a backup / restore?

You can.  The RAID array should assemble with the disks in any order, but it is often useful in troubleshooting to keep them in the proper order. Just make sure you power down the NAS before you remove them (and power up again after they are swapped).

This is just a test - after you had time to assess if the problem moves with the disk [or not], you should put them back.

I suggest labeling the disks by slot as you remove them, as you don't want to lose track of where they belong.

Totally different issue.  ClamAV needs to be updated - the way to do that is to install the 6.10.6 beta. https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Beta/ReadyNASOS-6-10-6-Beta/m-p/2151119#M10972

Likely the disk.   You might start with the disk test in the volume settings wheel (on the volume tab).

You could also power down the NAS, and temporarily swap the disk with one in a different bay (perhaps bay 1).  Then reboot, and see if the problem moves (or not).

Many thanks Stephen. I started the disk test and also downloaded the firmware beta. Will do the upgrade as soon as the test finishes.
