Adding another pair of drives?
Hi all,
This has been propably asked thousands of times, but I could not answer and I'm asking again. I have ReadyNAS 526X with pair of 6 TB disks. I installed another pair hoping to get 12 TB ...

So I can leave the system as it is and if there will be singe disk failure, I should be safe. Of course I create backups into an external drive frequently. I have on disk showing occasional error messages. I might consider replacing it.
I also wonder why I get "Unrecognized server error", when updating firmware manually. I'm currently running on 6.9.3.

I think the errors were Sata errors.
I did use Microsoft Edge.
I cannot confirm errors at the moment. It seems the workstation I've used as ReadyNAS admin has lost the password to RN526 last night while I was away. None of my RN Passwords I've written down on paper is not working there. Do I need to reset the whole thing to recover my password?

Chrome tends to work better with the NAS. Though if you don't want to click through the security warnings, FireFox is the best option (since you can save the security exception).

Do an OS reinstall, using the procedure on pages 137-138 here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-100/ReadyNAS_%20OS6_Desktop_HM_EN.pdf.
That will
- reset your admin password to password
- reset your NIC configuration to DHCP (and turn off bonding)
- turn off volume quota
Other settings (and of course your files) shouldn't be affected.
FWIW, since anyone with physical access to the NAS can also do the OS reinstall, there's not much security risk in putting the password on a label on the chassis (for instance inside the door).
After you regain access, download the log zip file. The SMART stats for the disks are in several places, including disk_info.log.

This was good. I opened the RN526 door and there it was, a tiny piece of a sticker with very tiny characters. I wrote them to log in and it worked. They have done that on reseller.
