Alerts not working with gmail

What settings are you using on the NAS? Can you provide a screenshot (obscuring your gmail address of course)?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure the NAS is the problem as i have some additional information.
I created another gmail account and checked the option to "access to less secure apps" which is disabled by default in gmail. Then i set up the new email address to forward emails to my regular account. Finally, i entered this new address into the NAS alerts setting.
Using this setup the test email from the NAS alerts was successfully recieved, and forwarded by the new account. In this way, my regular account can maintain the default security settings. Idealy i'd just tell gmail that the NAS is OK. However, as far as i can tell gmail can't allow access to specific "less secure" apps. Its either block everything, or unblock everything.
So my question is now basically whether its possible to get auto alerts work with when the "disable access to less secure apps" option is enabled in gmail? I'm wondering if theres a more elegant workaround to my forwading setup? I'm guessing theres no setting in the NAS to make gmail believe its more secure?

One thing that is perhaps worth clarifying: The NAS is considered "less secure" only because it directly uses your gmail password. The threat for the account is that if your gmail password were to leak, others could potentially access your account using smtp or pop. Another aspect is that you can't enable 2-factor authentication with your current setup.
