APC 1200 via USB not working
I have a ReadyNAS Pro 4 (4.2.31) connected to an APC XS 1200 via USB with no issues.
I moved that USB to this my other ReadyNAS 426 (6.10.4) and I get the following errors (I removed the serial number):
Dec 30, 2020 02:27:57 PM System: New USB UPS detected. Manufacturer: , Model: , Serial: <xxxx>.
Dec 30, 2020 02:28:00 PM System: Error communicating with UPS 'UPS' ().
Dec 30, 2020 02:28:03 PM System: Cannot communicate with UPS UPS ().
I'm new to version 6.x so I have nothing to compare against.

There is an old report of this issue here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/New-ReadyNAS-Users-General/RNDU600-on-OS6-4-suddenly-reports-quot-Cannot-communicate-with/td-p/1052977
Unfortunately there appears to have been no fix from Netgear. JohnCM_S , Marc_V: Can you escalate? It seems to me that this UPS should work.

Another weird thing. I upgraded my ReadyNAS Pro 4 to use OS 6.10.4 (It's not supported I know but it was already out of warranty) AND the USB connection to that same UPS works (still).
But plug the same USB (disconnect from Pro 4) to the RN426 ReadyNAS and it still don't work. That and even If I try to share the UPS from the Pro4 to the RN426, same error messages. Very weird...

I have the same problem with an APC BackUPS RS 1000 - I get
New USB UPS detected. Manufacturer: , Model: , Serial: <xxxxxxxxxxx>
Error communicating with UPS 'UPS' ()
Cannot communicate with UPS 'UPS' ()This looks like a supported UPS as per Network UPS Tools.

To follow up further on the UPS not recognised, the systemd-journal log shows the following:

And the usb-devices.log shows
1-0:1.0 1-1 product=Back-UPS RS 1000 FW:7.g9a.I USB FW:g9a idProduct=0002 idVendor=051d devnum=6 speed=1.5 1-1:1.0 2-0:1.0
The ups.log shows no sign of this UPS at all.
Hopefully this helps us to find a solution? Or do I really have to file a ticket for warranty "replacement"?

Of course, the version of NUT in the ReadyNAS is not the latest, so that could be a part of the issue. But Netgear has also clearly set up some sort of auto-detection and configuration that's not a part of NUT (and I wish I could turn off). If that's the only part that's not working, perhaps you could manually create a configuration file, as is the norm with NUT.

FYI, I don't work for Netgear - so I can't escalate anything.
