Custom alerts when adding files to a folder
Hi All,
I wanted to know if there is a way to send custom alerts to email adresses when adding/deleting files from a folder.
Basically i want a notification to be sent to users using my nas when a file is modified/added/deleted
I can't seem to find this anywhere.
Is it possible and if so, how do i make this happen?
Any help would be appreciated.

On OS-6 ReadyNAS there is a tool called inotifywatch that is installed on the NAS - you could try to write your own script using that tool. I don't know if that tool is installed (or can be installed) on 4.1, 4.2, or 5.3 systems.
No worries 🙂
My Readynas Pro 6 Pioneer edition is running OS 6.10.7 😉
So i'll check the program you mentioned.

It's not something I've tried. There is a tutorial here that might help get you started: https://www.howtogeek.com/405468/how-to-perform-a-task-when-a-new-file-is-added-to-a-directory-in-linux/
