Dead RAID 5 RN104

So a lightning strike took out my networking equipment (Remember to surge protect your coax) and it was running 4 drives in RAID 5. I have data on those drives, and they are still turning and working...

    Welcome to the Community!

     

    You can move the drives to any of our newer ReadyNAS OS6 models and it should work. You can check this article for reference.

     

    For the 4-bay NAS models, we have the RN214, which is an ARM-based unit. For the Intel-based units, we have the RN424 and the RN524X.

     

    If you do have a spare disk handy, you could do a fresh install first on the disk, and update the firmware (if needed) on the new chassis, then power down and migrate the disks.
