error when connecting a USB device
When I plug in a 5TB Seagate storage device I get the following error. "external storage device is connected but the file system is not recognized". My NAS has recognized other USB devices, some w...
Is that drive USB powered? If so, that's a pretty big drive to expect a NAS to power on its own (though USB3 is suposed to be rated at high enough current for most). If the electronics is powering up but the drive isn't spinning up, that could cause it.
NOTE: If a drive comes with one of those cables that lets you plug into two USB ports to get enough current, it's not usually going to work on a ReadyNAS.
No, the device is 1 large partition.

Is it the same issue when connecting the storage device on any of the USB ports of the NAS (one USB2.0 port on the front panel and two USB3.0 ports on the rear panel)?
Also, just to confirm with reference to Windows Disk Manager, does it also show only one partition when running list part in diskpart via cmd?
