Expansion

Is there a way to expand the raid via USB? or what the best way to add more drives to my ReadyNas 204? I saw they make USB Raid enclosers will that work?

    Hi 07stuntar1,

ReadyNAS RAID or volume expansion takes place when a new internal drive/s has been added or been replaced with a higher or bigger capacity. There are two types of expansion namely Vertical and Horizontal expansion. For more information kindly check the following articles.

How can I expand the storage capacity of an existing volume on my ReadyNAS OS 6 storage system?

    Hope this helps!

    Kind regards,

The USB drive would show up as a separate volume so you could still access the data on it from your PCs.

A USB RAID enclosure may be incompatible though.

If you want more space you are best to add disks/replace existing disks with higher capacity disks internally (as described in the article BrianL Linked to) or add a second ReadyNAS to your network.
