Free up space on readynas 516
Hello, I'm deleting some files from my readynas to free up space. But I don't see the free space in the information growing. I have now deleted almost 1Tb, but I see no difference. You need to do some scrubbing, defrag etc. or they are risky for the integrity of the files. Thank you

Do you use snapshots enabled on the shares you are deleting from? If you do,you need to delete some of them. Start with the oldest.
It can take a while for the space to show up. A balance (from the volumes settings wheel) might possibly accelerate the process.
Thanks for the reply. Yes I use snapshots. Having only deleted a few folders within the share, I thought I could only delete those folders from the snapshot, but I believe you can only delete the snapshot by date.
Is balancing safe or can it create problems for existing files?thanks
Balancing is a way of insuring your files are safe. You should be doing it as a maintenance function. How often depends on your use. For many, once every 3 or 4 months in sufficient. The more often you do it, the shorter each will take. So if you've never done it before, it may take a while on your NAS.
