Getting New NAS question
I currently has a ReadyNAS 524X with 4 8TB drives, one serving as a parity check drive. I am looking into an 8 bay ReadyNAS RN626X/RX628X. I have three questions about the process and I hope some...

Actually, the parity is spread over all the drives, it's not just on one. It takes the same space as the largest of your drives, so you can calculate storage space by thinking of it that way, but it's not how things really are.
By "looking into an 8 bay ReadyNAS RN626X/RX628X", I assume you mean looking into buying a used unit. New ReadyNAS have not been available for quite a while now. Frankly, IMHO, with Netgear clearly abandoning the NAS market, this would be a better time to look into migrating to another brand if you need to upgrade to a larger NAS.
