Help! I accidentaly erased network share on my RNDU 4000
Hello everyone.
I'm an idiot... I accidentally deleted the network share containing all my data on my old ReadyNas RNDU4000. đ±đ±đ±
The NAS has the old OS 4 updated to the latest version (I can't access to it via telnet) and it consists of 4x 2TB disks, configured in RAID 5.
Immediately after deleting the share, I turned off the NAS, removed all the disks, and connected them to a PC with an external reader, creating a raw copy in ".img" format with HDD Guru.
Now that I have the 4 disk images, how could I proceed to recover the data?
I'm using Windows 11 on which, however, I installed Linux Ubuntu through a virtual machine (operating system that I donât know very well).
Could you suggest the best method to proceed, step by step, fool proof?
Thanks

I suggest trying R-Studio RAID recovery software (which runs on Windows). You can download it for free to see if it can recover anything.
To actually recover the files, you'd need to purchase the license (currently on sale for about $64 USD)
I can't give you any step-by-step, but of course R-Studio does provide their own support.
FWIW, when (hopefully) you get your data back, you should put a backup plan in place for your NAS.

Converting to OS6, with it's snapshot capability, is also a good plan. It doesn't replace having a backup, but it would have made recovery very fast in this instance.
Not if the share itself was deleted. But it would have been fast if the folders/files in the share were deleted.
