An OS re-install will change the admin password back to the default password. No effect on your data unless you accidently do a factory default instead of an OS re-install.
Thank you very much Sandshark, the OS reinstall did the trick. I'm now able to access the admin page and have access to all of my media files. đ

It depends on the destination device.
If you are transfering to a disk connected to a PC, then there are several free programs you can use for block transfers. FreeFileSync is one. You can also schedule backups with most of these programs.
If you are transferring to another NAS, then you can use either the backup jobs in the ReadyNAS, or use a similar facility in the other NAS. Use rsync as the protocol if you can.
Backup jobs are also great for transferring to a USB drive connected directly to the NAS -- much faster than to a drive attached to a PC. If you use an NTFS formatted drive, then you can read it with your PC.
