My 80yo neighbour has a Nas with all his Flac music on. It's not working and I am trying to work out why. A few few years ago I replaced one of the discs successfully. The unit Is on and I ...

Try install RAIDar on a PC, it should give you some more status information.

Which model shows in RAIDar?
Do you recall which firmware this unit was running?

Hi
It says Model = ReadyNas Duo, Name = NAS-BA-08-64, Status = Corrupt Root
I would guess the firware is over a year old. I moved away from my neighbour about 8 months ago and it gave it an overhall before this. Not sure the number.
With one disk it has a slow blinking blue and the 2 green leds are flashing 3 times slow and then 3 times quick.
Thanks

Did you try booting with disk 2 only (in slot 2)? Make sure you have the NAS powered down when you remove/reinsert these disks.

Disc 2 only results in slow flashing blue light with no green leds and not able to see via Raidar.
Thanks again for for all the help.

The next step is to shutdown the NAS and remove both drives (label them).
Then
(a) power up the NAS and confirm that RAIDar sees a "no disks" status
(b) test both disks with vendor tools in a windows PC (seatools for seagate, lifeguard for western digital).
If the NAS hasn't been monitored reqularly, it is possible that both disks have failed.
