how to free up space without deleting snapshots

Do you have quota turned off on the volume settings (Check the volumes setting wheel)?
Snapshots cover the entire share, there is no way to exclude specific folder from the snapshots. There is also no way to delete anything from existing snapshots.
You can try doing a balance, and see if that frees up any space. But the videos will remain in the snapshots for the share.

It's not a backup, and it is a mistake to think of it that way.
The two disks are mirrored - everything written to the data volume is written in parallel to both disks. There is no way to change that.
There are plenty of situations where data can be lost, even with RAID redundancy. RAID just isn't enough to keep your data safe - you need to have a separate backup for that. Backing up to a USB disk is one popular way to do that.

Sorry for "backup" expression, i meant the mirror disc as you understood it good. :)
Backup is not a problem, i also have daily backups to another (older) nas.
I used to have the quota checkbox checked, now i turned it off, and also balanced the disks but no more space available then.
I don't understand that how can't i see the used space for snapshots, just the "available space and used space" unless i deleted 30% of the used space by those raw videos. Those should be only in the "snapshots".
But i see the same "1,2TB" used and no space indicated for snapshots as before deleting those.

I turned it on again yesterday and still nothing.
