Deleting Snapshots

Hi all,

I'm cleaning up a RN2120 and have deleted all shares however there is approx 1.6Tb in use for Snapshots for those folders I just deleted.

How do I clear this off?

Will a SCRUB remove them?

Cheers, Chris.

  • From your problem description it sounds like most likely you created your volume on very old firmware, which is why I liked the idea of destroying the volume and creating a new one (or even doing a factory reset - wipes all data, settings, everything).

If  you've deleted all the shares you may as well delete the volume (destroying any remaining data on that) as well and create a new volume.

I agree, but wanted to add that you should install your apps first, and reinstall after you create a new volume.

  • I did consider doing that however there is a couple of very larger (5Tb+) folders with backup data in them which means I can't destroy the volume and start again.

Any other suggestions on how I can get this space back?

So you didn't delete all the folders/shares on the volume then.

Perhaps send me your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig).

  • I did delete all folders however my offsider was a bit quick and started a data sync from one RN2120 to this one.

Not to worry we have now decided to just blow away the Volume and start again.
